- * customers and transactions can be loaded for you automatically with *
- * DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT! This data is used in conjunction with the *
- * tutorial, but can also be used "on your own" to help you learn *
- * DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT. See below, Step Three, question #3. *
- *************************************************************************
-
- ********** INSTALLING DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT **********
-
- BEFORE INSTALLING: You must know what version of MS-DOS you use. If you
- don't know, type
- ver <Enter>
- at the DOS prompt, and DOS will tell you what version you have.
-
-
- +-STEP ONE: Insert Diskette & Begin Installing ----------------------
- |
- | Place the diskette in your computer's floppy drive. If you are
- | going to install DELIVERY ROUTE from the A: drive, place the
- | diskette in the A: drive and type
- | A:install <Enter>
- | (If you are going to install from B: drive, use B: in place of A: in
- | the above command.) This will start the installation program, which
- | will put all DELIVERY ROUTE'S files in all the right places for you.
-
-
-
- +-STEP TWO: Answer Install Program's Six Questions -----------------
- |
- | #1. Select a target directory.
- | The install program will suggest you install DELIVERY ROUTE in a
- | directory called C:\DRLT (For Delivery Route LighT). Save yourself
- | the hassle and accept C:\DRLT by just pressing <Enter>. The install
- | program then loads the necessary compressed files onto your hard
- | drive, and decompresses them for you. This will take a few moments.
- | If you install DELIVERY ROUTE into a different directory, see the
- | last paragraph in this document. If you're unsure what to do, press
- | <Enter> to accept the suggested directory.
- |
- | #2. Is your MS-DOS version 6.0 or higher?
- | You will be asked if your computer runs MS-DOS 6.0 or above. High-
- | light the correct answer and press <Enter>. This step creates a
- | copy of backup.exe in an MS-DOS 6 user's program directory, enabling
- | him/her to do backups for DELIVERY ROUTE. If you're unsure of what
- | to do, answer "Yes". (A wrong Yes answer is easier to fix than a
- | wrong No answer.)
- |
- | #3. Install example data?
- | Answering "Yes" will install example data (test data) which can
- | help you learn DELIVERY ROUTE LIGHT. Answer "No" if you do not
- | wish the example data installed into your program directory. If
- | you're unsure of what to do, answer "Yes".
-
-
-
-
- | #4. Update your CONFIG.SYS?
- | You will then be asked if you want the install program to update
- | your configuration file. It must allow at least 30 files to be open
- | at once for DELIVERY ROUTE to function properly. If the FILES
- | statement in your CONFIG.SYS file needs to be bumped up to 30, the
- | install program will do it for you automatically if you answer
- | "Yes." Highlight the correct answer and press <Enter>.
- |
- | #5. Update your AUTOEXEC.BAT?
- | The install program then asks if you want your AUTOEXEC.BAT file
- | updated. If you answer "Yes" then the install program will add
- | C:\DRLT\DRBAT to your path, making it easier to start DELIVERY
- | ROUTE. If you answer "No" then you will have an extra command to
- | type each time you start DELIVERY ROUTE. Highlight the correct
- | answer and press <Enter>. If you're unsure of what to do, answer
- | "Yes".
- |
- | #6. Reboot your Computer System?
- | The install program's final act is to ask you if you'd like to
- | reboot the computer in order to make the changes take effect.
- | Select "Yes" and press <Enter>. The computer will reboot (turn
- | itself off, then back on).
-
-
